Election day
I’m Mika Vauhkala (b. 1980, Kuusamo) – a Helsinki-based entrepreneur with more than ten years in the insurance business. Sport has been a big part of my life since I was a kid. Growing up I wrestled, played football, and skied. These days I train several times a week.
I’m standing as an independent on the Freedom Alliance list in Uusimaa. What matters most to me in politics is Finland’s independence, peace, individual freedom, and national sovereignty.
Independence
Finland should decide its own affairs.
Peace
Finland’s path is the path of peace.
Individual freedom
Freedom is not for sale.
Sovereignty
Back to Finland – and to the Finnish people.

In more detail
01
Finland leaves the EU, the euro, NATO and the WHO – and walks away from the DCA agreement.
Sovereignty back to Finland.
02
Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly and bodily autonomy are non-negotiable.
No digital ID. No vaccine passports. No surveillance state.
03
In Finland, owning, saving and passing something on to your children should be worth it. It’s wrong for the state to take another cut of wealth built over decades of work – wealth that’s already been taxed again and again.
Scrap the inheritance tax.
04
Entrepreneurs should be free to arrange their own social and pension cover.
Make YEL voluntary.
05
Sport has been part of my life since childhood. Every Finnish child deserves that chance.
An hour of PE every school day – and proper school meals.
06
End mass humanitarian immigration. An indebted Finland is not Northern Europe’s welfare office. Immigration should be skills-based and, as a rule, self-funded. People here illegally are returned, and foreign nationals who commit serious crimes are deported.
Finland decides who comes – and who stays.
07
The family is the foundation of society. I defend the values Finland was built on.
08
The climate is constantly changing – driven mainly by the sun and the oceans. Human-produced CO₂ is 0.0016% of the atmosphere; Finland’s share is 0.000001%. Carbon dioxide is the gas of life, not a threat. Finland can be 100% self-sufficient in liquid fuels from forest residues and peat.
No to the climate hoax.

Why I’m running
Fazer wouldn’t sell me a croissant. That’s where it all started.
In December 2021 I was refused coffee and a croissant because I didn’t have a COVID pass.
I could have walked out of Kluuvikatu 3 and forgotten about it. I didn’t.
And it wasn’t just about me. Plenty of other people went through the same thing. Many lost their jobs. Some had to choose between giving in and sticking to what they believed. There are a lot of those stories in Finland.
For me, it was never really about the croissant.
It was about whether someone can be shut out of ordinary life for refusing to hand over control of their own body. Can someone else decide what you have to put into your body – or which test you have to take – just to live a normal life?
My answer was simple: no.
So I took it to court. Not over coffee or a croissant, but because somebody had to push back and defend freedom.
I remember sitting at home around New Year 2021–2022, asking myself whether I was really prepared to put my name and face on the line for basic rights.
In the end it came down to this:
If I won’t stand up for basic rights – what will I stand up for?
From that point on, there was no holding back. Public social media. My own name. My own face.
And that same principle is why I’m running for Parliament now.
I’m Mika Vauhkala – entrepreneur and independent candidate on the Freedom Alliance list in Uusimaa.
I want a Finland that runs its own affairs. A Finland that defends freedom and basic rights even when it’s hard – because that’s exactly when they need defending.
Freedom is not for sale.
Not yours. Not mine. Not Finland’s.
Only one gear – full throttle.

The case has gone all the way to the ECHR. The principle is not for sale.
